Perfect Apple Pie Made With Funkwerks Raspberry Provincial
A craft brew-inspired essence like my Funkwerks Raspberry Provincial Ale has become delicious enhancement for making an easy, perfect apple pie. This fruit-forward sour beer brings out the natural flavor of the apples and creates an incredible thick syrup for the filling. Substitute your favorite craft brew flavor for a special dessert to serve any day, not just Thanksgiving!
¼ lb. Unsalted butter
5 Apples, sliced (choose your fave, the sweeter the better)
¼ c. Sugar
1 (11.2 oz.) Funkwerks Raspberry Provincial
1 package (2 ct.) Refrigerated pie dough rolls
Preheat oven to 350^. Prepare the pie crust. Unroll one roll and place firmly into a standard pie pan. Unroll the second dough and set aside. Slice apples into thin slices, keep the peel on.
Melt butter in a large non-stick skillet, add apples and sugar and cook on high heat, stirring frequently until the apples begin to caramelize, about 5 minutes.
Add the Raspberry Provincial and cook the mixture, stirring frequently until the beer cooks down and the mixture is a syrupy, thick and raspberry in color, about 10 minutes.
Remove pan from heat and let cool for 10 minutes.
Transfer apple mixture to your ready pie crust, top with the second crust. Crimp the edges together. Make a couple of venting slits in the top and pop it into the oven for about 40 minutes until the crust is golden and fully cooked through.
Cool (if you can wait that long!) top with a healthy scoop of vanilla ice cream and enjoy!
